Clusterv3
Idea
I recently switched to another ISP and got a 10Gbit/s connection.
My friend realized that we are on the same ISP and have a ping of below 1ms.
We both work in IT and have some K8s knowledge and so we thought of building a multi site kubernetes Cluster.
Hardware:
All of my hardware consists of my home Router and a Dell Precision Tower 5810.
Dell Workstation(Hypervisor):
I have upgraded its specs to:
- 64Gb DDR4 ecc Ram (2133 mhz i think)
- Nvidia geforce 1070Ti Founders Edition
- Some 10 Core 20 Threads Intel Xeon
- Disks:
- 4TB Sata SSD
- 6TB HDD For backups
- 500GB Sata SSD For Proxmox
It runs:
- Proxmox Virtual Enviromnent (free)
- VMS:
- VM running a bunch of docker containers
- openwrt
- VM for School Projects
- Synthing VM
- TestVM
- Talos Template
- Ubuntu Template
- Arch Template
(most of my stuff runs on the VM with the docker containers)
My Router(Zyxel Wont give name):
This router is giving me many Headaches like for example:
I cant autofill with bitwarden even though it suggests it:

Or it seems that the Webui Is at random times accesible via https only.
Dhe dead UI bug
As the router was running its original Firmware its UI happened to crash while i wasnt on site.
I therefore could not configure the router anymore.
As I went on site and rebootet the router I went home and wondered why my VPN and public sites are all inaccessible.
It turned out that my public IP has changed after the router Reboot and my DynDns Tool did not work.
The router UI dying wasnt the only issue, accessing the router via ssh or telnet now also was impossible meanwhile the rest of the router itself still worked just fine.
The Fix:
The only Fix for the router UI to stop dying was to upgrade to another Firmware Version which i wont write down here.
